Abertanat is situated at the mouth of the river Tanat. This is the Welsh Marches region and the herd crosses the border between England and Wales daily as they graze the lush pastureland alongside the river Tanat. We milk 150 Holstein/Friesian cows and their fresh milk is piped directly into our new purpose built cheese dairy. Hygiene is important to us, whether it be in the milking parlour or the cheese dairy. We are in control at all times i.e from our cow grazing the fields to her milk production. We carefully turn her milk into beautiful handmade cheese which gives us great pride.

Stuart's great Grandad moved to the farm in the 1950's. he farmed the land with Ayrshire Cattle, Sheep and Wheat. In the late 1970's we were limited with the Ayrshire cow and crossed over to Holstein. Farming at Abertanat  now  sees us concentrating on dairy farming with the Abertanat herd of pedigree Holstein Friesians and traditional cheesemaking.  As both Stuart and Ryan are keen on maintaining agricultural businesses we ventured into cheesemaking to move closer to the consumer.
